The Ripple Effect.

Yesterday wasn’t a great day for me as on the way home from picking up my son from the railway station, I was involved in a car accident. Poor judgement by a driver leaving a garage forecourt onto a busy main road. She was unable to see my car due to parked cars, likewise I didn’t see her until she crossed my path.

My son and I wait at the side of the road until my car could be recovered. She has admitted guilt so hopefully things we be sorted quickly and luckily none of us was hurt.

From a writer’s point of view, as I sat on a wall watching the world go by, I was given a different viewpoint. How our busy lives can be changed in less than a blink of an eye. As l stood talking with the lady in question, she like myself was busy taking her son to work, while l was bringing my son home. She was desperate to go home, to take her small dog for a walk before heading off to work herself, while I was wanting to get back to my writing.

An unforeseen moment changed everything. Well not quite. For me maybe. She was able to continue her day with little damage while I was left at the side of the road waiting, my plans and my son’s put on hold. As a stone dropped into water causing a ripple effect I wonder what else has changed too, what damages my lost hours caused to my future plans.

I’m sure there’s a story in all of this too.

Have a great day, hopefully.
