I have two things I enjoy most in life. Walking and photography. I live in a village. I would like to say I live in a small English village, but over the last few years the village has grown.

England is changing fast. New roads, railway and housing is tearing up the countryside and destroying our wildlife. Yes we need housing, roads and railways but at what price.

The lost of wildlife comes at a higher price both in our health and well-being and with the lost of our farmland and insects life the opportunity to feed ourselves as the world’s precious resources become limited.

My friend Ana and I walk the footpaths around our village as often as we can. It helps to clear my head before I sit down to write and it helps to keep me healthy.

Here’s a few pictures I took the other day.

Have a great day and remember to enjoy the landscape around you too.

  1. I really enjoyed this post, Paula. Your photos are lovely and very evocative with a strong sense of place. I don’t take many photos, but, like you, I enjoy walking (and bike riding) for the same reasons as you do. Out where I live an old railroad bed has been converted to a sixty mile long bike trail that travels through woodlands, wetlands and fields with only the occasional view of a home. Spring, summer and fall I bike it everyday (five miles) for the simple joy of being in nature. I work out a lot of stories there, too. Thanks for the inspiring post!
