Another Year Nearly Done and Dusted.

I guess it’s time to start planning next year’s targets. After spending years working on a novel, and then spending more time, editing, rewriting and then more editing only to find out your book is too long, I’m now planning on taking a break from novel writing.

My plan is to focus my time on writing pocket novels. I’m enjoying the freedom of writing short, sharp horror and crime tales.

At the moment I’m working on a tale of Murder, mystery and mayhem. I’m hoping the publishers like it and will want more from me. Next I shall see if it is possible to reduce a novel of 117k down to 20k. Though, I ready know where the cuts can be made. One can’t be too precious about your writing if you want to be published.

Here’s something short for your enjoyment: It’s no laughing matter

Yesterday, I received a copy of an anthology The Forest of Fear . My drabble ‘Home Grown’ is published it. The quality of the book is amazing.

I’ve now got a growing collection of printed copies of my work which I hope to increase next year. First and foremost I would like to see my name on the front cover of at least one by the end of the new year.

This year has taught me a lot about myself. I truly feel I’ve found my writer’s voice and know which direction I want to take my writing.

For the first time, I believe my dream is possible. In this fast moving world while time is short new readers don’t want large novel. Nor it seems, publishers either.

As audio books take over from print novels and publishers have to pay for actors to reader the books, short, sharp tales become more desirable. I’m looking forward to ride this new wave.

Have a great day, bye for now,
