For the last few days I’ve been busy working on extending a crime story I wrote years ago for a BBC story competition.
We writers learn early on in our careers never to throw anything away. Recycling is something we always do. If only life was the same. What an amazing planet we all would live on.
The Funeral Birds has gone through a surprising change as I have learnt so much more about writing and editing since the story was first created in 2010.
Now all I need to do is to read through it again, while giving it a good edit. I shall be checking for inconsistencies, and repeated information. I want the readers to enjoy the flow of the story as they are swept along uncovering the truth behind the body in the crypt.
Once I’m happy with it, I shall send it off, and focus on writing three horror stories next as I wait nervously to find out whether it is accepted or not.
Have a great weekend,
Way to go, Paula! Congratulations on getting that first draft completed. That’s a huge step. Good going 🙂
